Roedale Delta Moderator Series

The „Roedale Delta Moderator Series „ concept is a design that originates back to the late 1980's when an all steel - modular sound suppressor for use on military small arms was developed by a Regimental Armourer working on a project with a British Army Research & Development Establishment. The design was however never produced in numbers.

Further development and modernisation of the design started with the commencement of a Diploma Study commissioned by Roedale at the the Technical University of Applied Science in Osnabrück - Germany. The research team of Prof Dr. Schmidt worked closely together with the Roedale design team and the combination of scientific R&D, practical know how and years of hunting as well as military experience proved to be a resounding success. The design was modernised to encompass the latest materials and the Delta series was developed, tested extensively and evaluated, in theory, in the laboratory, in the field and on the range. The design was then upgraded, retested and evaluated before going into production.

The sound level recorder measurements were carried out by University Personnel with a Bruel&Kjær 3160-A4/2 amplifier attached to a specialised Bruel&Kjær 4941 Microphone and coupled to a laptop using PULSE Labshop version 13.5.0.32 Software by Bruel & Kjær. Testing was performed has internationally approved standards in line with the British Forestry Commission's assessment of Firearms Moderators.

The recoil reduction was determined by technology developed by the University engineers combined with vibration Calibrators and accelerometers.
The development of our sound moderators has continued since 2009 and still continues today. Additional Delta Series models are added as they are developed, tested and produced. These models are conceived for different areas of application often the result of a customer request.

In May, 2013 we purchased brand new sound pressure level measuring equipment direct from Bruel & Kjær. We now use the sound Analyzer 2250 L version G4, with 1/4 high pressure microphone for measurement of firearms noise up to >165dB, we use the matching software supplied by Bruel & Kjær for sound analysis.

Today's the Aerospace and Defence Industry demand the utmost performance from the materials used in component manufacture. At Roedale you can be assured that we make no less demands on our raw materials.
These demands include improved toughness, lighter weight and increased resistance to fatigue and corrosion. The boundaries of material properties are being constantly extended and performance is optimised for particular applications.
Aluminium is one of the key materials facing these challenges and we at Roedale are at the forefront of its use in Firearm Sound Moderators. Advances in material technology within the Aerospace and Defence Industry have given our Firearms Industry scientists a head start.

Optimised alloy chemistry and processing has given increased stress fracture toughness and resistance to wear. Advanced coating technology has given increased resistance to heat. At Roedale we have put the advancement in material science to good use and the raw material aluminium used in the manufacture of Delta Moderator components are a specially made, high strength AlZnMgCu alloy.

We took the step of having alloy specially made exclusively to our specifications to achieve the exact properties we require for Moderator manufacture. This is our way to ensure constant quality of raw material, constant manufacturing processes and constant real world performance of the end product. We also use some ordnance grade stainless steel components as well as Delrin and Carbon fiber in some of the Delta Series models.

All Parts of the Delta Series Moderators are CNC machined from solid bar stock raw material on our Gildemeister CTX400 machining centre.
All alloy parts are Hard Coat Anodised to 400HV ( around 41,7 Rockwell) ensuring maximum resistance to wear and ultimate performance.
Delta Series Modular Moderators are Strippable, Upgradable and are easily repaired should apart be worn, damaged or lost.

It is possible to add additional blast baffle units to cope with calibers of high gas volume. Or to provide increased peak sound reduction should there be a requirement.
It is also possible to replace the first blast baffle units with stainless steel in order to ensure stable performance with high intensity magnum type calibers or rapid fire scenarios or simply to prolong the life expectancy before repair. This modular capability lets you tailor the suppressor to the exact use and requirement.
Roedale "Delta-Moderators“ provide an excellent combination of sound reduction, muzzle flash elimination and recoil reduction in a light, compact and robust package. This offers our Customers excellent performance and value for money.

Delta Series Moderators are available in several types ranging from 175g up to 535g. The modularity ensures compatibility with all usage scenarios and the most commonly used bore and caliber sizes. We have all the most common EU and US thread sizes as standard, plus some specialty threads. Firearm specific and quick detach models is also a possibility and we have the capability to custom manufacture should you have the requirement

Cutting edge hearing protection technology from Roedale. EU Regulation 10/2003 Art.3 & Art, 5 compatible noise reduction for hunting, sporting and professional used firearms.
